My hats off to Lionel service,for Christmas this year I bought my son a Thomas remote set,this is a nice little set,and my son eyes light up,when this set works properly,I emailed Lionel service, and they are going to replace the set and they even paid for postage,I see a lot of bashing on the forum,but with the service mike Reagan provides,is the reason I keep buying their product,keep up the good work,

 On keeping us loyal customers happy...

I wonder if there is a small minority that still have problems after getting their trains serviced or if there is a larger group that still have problems and they don’t say anything?  In the last 6 months I have spent $100 on shipping items back to Lionel.  I bought my 1st Legacy engine back in November and it had to go back 3 times before it was fixed.  Back in March I bought another Legacy engine and Legacy command set.  The engine had problems right out of the box and Legacy command base died in 2 weeks of use.  I sent them back and they did come back fixed.  I just bought another Legacy engine last week and out the box it had multiple problems.  Instead of sending it back to Lionel, the dealer graciously allowed me to send back to him for exchange.  I have no gripes about Lionel’s customer service.  I think they are doing the best they can to fix problems.  When I had problems with my 1st Legacy engine not coming back fixed, Jon Z went above and beyond to fix the problems with my engine.  However, the frustration sets in for guys like me when everything you buy has to be returned because it does not work correctly.   The repetitive problems I my opinion causes the numerous complaints here on the forum.  After several times of sending back items to be fixed, it gets very old and costly.  The $100 I spent for shipping to get everything fixed, I could have spent it on something else.  If it were not for the good customer service from Lionel, I would probably have given up on making any additional Legacy purchases.  I have come to realize with every new purchase especially with Legacy, there is high possibility that it will have to be sent back to be fixed because of all the quality control issues.

Yes. I too have had nice experiences with the Lionel service Dept. with regards to one of my Milw. Rd. S-3s. Each time it went in, it came back quickly, and was fixed. Unfortunately, it looks like I need to contact them again and fix a problem with the engine.  But I really like these S-3s that they did!
