Great news, cannot wait to see my Texas Special units. ...

Me too, Roger.

I had so hoped that the Texas Special set would have been one of the last roadnames in Lionel's 18" aluminum passenger set deliveries.  (Remember those?  The ones where "detailed interiors" INCLUDED people?  )  But that wasn't to be.

Had Lionel come thru with the Texas Special in 18" aluminum, I wouldn't even be dabbling with their 21" cars.  I have a couple of special sets with the larger cars -- like Sunset Models' GMToT and El Capitan, along with Atlas-O's CZ And Amtrak Zephyr.  But they can be overwhelming to one's layout, unless you have a full-size basement layout or huge club layout.

Whether I order any additional 21" sets from Lionel remains to be seen.  Certainly nothing called my name from the 2016 catalog except for the AFT -- and most of those cars are 18" being based on the baggage car design.  For my tastes (and modest layout track radii), 18" cars are simply my preference.

Excellent follow-through by Lionel on this!    Consumers ordered these in stores around December 5th, 2015 (give or take a few days)... and here we are getting them delivered in less than 3 months.  I'm so glad to see Lionel producing some products here in the good ole USA, when it makes sense to do so.  (Hopefully, we'll see more of this down the road.)   If nothing else, it's such a refreshing change to see a product delivered WITHOUT waiting 12-24 a year or two (or more) for stuff to see the light of day thanks to all the nonsense going on in overseas factories nowadays.
