Don't jump to that conclusion (yet).  True that Lionel's shipping schedule dates typically imply dealers will see them early the following month.  HOWEVER, Lionel has been known to ship product on a weekly basis as the year winds down.  So expect a ton of stuff to be shipping in the next 6 weeks.  Time to pay the piper, boys and girls.

OTOH, reality has finally hit... and MANY products originally slated for delivery in 2014 are now showing 2015 dates -- particularly the 18" aluminum passenger cars, many of which are now pushed into the 2nd half of 2015.  No real surprise there.

Have no fear... Give Charlie Ro a call.  They still show them on their website for pre-order.   And Lionel is now quoting an ETA of Feb/Mar 2015.

Charlie ordered a bunch of BTO stuff beyond their customer-confirmed pre-orders just for guys like you (and me).  I ordered my MKT E-8's and MKT 18" passenger cars to build a new Texas Special train, and I ordered them after Lionel's official BTO deadline.  But Charlie came through for me (again)!!!

Well now it looks like most of the aluminum passenger cars are moved back into next year except for the Pocohantas' Passenger Set which shows Dec. 14. I guess that means most likely that set is also going to be pushed back into next year. So I will be looking at getting a new pass. set next year with a over 2 year old engine, since the engines were built at the beginning of last year.

My guess is you will have your Berk and Cab Forward before Christmas Day.

PTC, you're always a beacon of light and good grace on this forum so I thank you for giving me hope that the Daylight AC-12 will be available before I expect it will be!

Once it does arrive, I am plotting to post a video (my first here) of a fantasy SP excursion train, which will most definitely not be for purists. Watch this space.

I have a book with a photo of an express being pulled by not one, but two Cab Forwards so I don't think the 'fantasy' coloring is really too far out.

Matt Ashba confirmed at the TCA Museum Presentations that other than the CZ and Pocahontas sets, all other 18" Lightweight sets are scheduled for delivery in 2015.

The answer is that it doesn't but that's not the point. My fantasy/fantastic consist will have nothing to do with prototypical accuracy. The vast majority of the prototypes only exist in photographs, models and the imaginations of railway enthusiasts; thank goodness there is at least that much remaining of the great age of American locomotives and passenger cars. I imagine a Daylight GS4 and cab forward pulling a passenger train made up of disparate Lionel, 3rd Rail and K-Line cars. Purists will be appalled!

Not to dampen y'all's expectations but, there is a serious dockworker labor issue that has boiled over at the west coast ports in the past week.  The dock workers have been without a contract for a while now and have been staging slowdowns so severe the container lines have simply taken to "firing" entire crews and sending them home.  This has resulted in ships going consecutive shifts without being worked.  The backup in the Pacific Northwest is so severe BNSF has embargoed all intermodal traffic to Seattle, Portland and Tacoma.
