I have had one on order for over 3 years now and still waiting. I saw a mockup of one that they had at York before it was put in a catalog. It looked good to me but I think it maybe more of a novelty as Chris pointed out.
Spotting the engine correctly may take some time especially with transformer controlled engine. Then comes the question about some engines like the Penna. S-2 that has 4 stacks where there is no spot in the center spot on the engine if the loader can only be lined up for the center of a engine.
And then comes the question of how correct will the loader be if you cannot control the amount of the fluid going into your engine.
Only time will tell, but we have wait until they are made and then we will see.
I just see puddles.
It is on the Lionel shipping schedule for delivery in October 2014.

Can't justify spending the bucks to slop smoke fluid all over my locos.

I usually do a pretty fair job of slopping smoke fluid all over the engines on my own, without any additional equipment or cost required.
I posted a video of it the TAS version of it a few years back. It was pretty precise but I do not think it would use it on diesels only steam since the target is much larger. Honestly not sure if it will ever be built

I was under the impression that you should shake the smoke fluid bottle before using it. It would just lay stagnant in the loader.
Mike Reagan said at the Legacy Users Group breakfast this morning that the 37821 smoke fluid loader will be made and shipping to Lionel in March.

That's the note on Megasteam bottles.
