Does anyone have this car that has the welder moving back and forth with the full range of motion? The coil spring on mine seems to be too weak.

Mike, mine came with the spring in this photo. Did you add a tighter spring or do spring strengths vary? I may have to try other springs.

I have one. From the start it didn't move well. If I remember correctly, there is a lot of drag on the bar. It runs most of the car length. I got the bar so the light would flicker as it should and left it alone. The man moves a little, but not a lot.

Mine came with no spring. It never did work well. I think they were depending on the micro switch to provide tension. I did hit the cam and the other moving parts with a little silicone spray. The welding arc should start when the stick hits the item. Never happened for me.
Mike, it looks like the wire is laying on the deck of the car. Can you remove the black box the wire runs through? I would get some small very thin washers and shim up the lever on the cam just enough that the wire clears the cars deck. You may have to do the other end also. Check the bends in the end of the wire, They may not be a square enough and allow the wire to rub the deck. Then look to see if you'll have to clearance the black box for the wire.
