Hello, been awhile since I've posted here.  I have a R30 set (which has been a ball), that I've been running up a modest grade (never figured the %) on my holiday layout.  Hope to post a video soon but I need to finish the details.  Anyway, I was running with three cars (sent the forth back with door issue), and it took the grade smooth & easy.  When the 4th was added back this week, I can notice the extra drag uphill.  I also have an add on set of R17's I was thinking of mixing in but not sure about one motor pulling all of them.

I also noticed that the wheel clearence under the bodies is pretty close when going up hill and on a curve.  Track seems to need very flat & even joining.

I'll be taking this layout down in a couple months and was wondering about max grades for handling 6 car Lionel sets.  I do like running them over streets but would like to drop down into a cut away under ground station on a larger layout.   Any comments about your experiences greatly appreciated.

I was wondering about MTH sets.  Are there any with sounds like the Lionel set?  Do they have dual motors?

Thanks for reading, John

John, I can only answer one of your questions you asked. All the MTH subways I believe have dual motors.

What sounds on the MTH sets are you wanting? It is my understanding that if you have DCS you can possibly change sound sets by down loading them from MTH.

Barry Broskowitz or others can better answer this question on sound files.
