I have a Lionel swing bridge that is mis-aligning, is there an easy way to access the main swing base to get to the internals.

I have had the swing bridge apart. It is not a simple process. If I remember correctly, the bridge must be removed to get to the gear box. The gear box is not your issue. Underneath the base there are two micro switches which get triggered to stop the movement. I do know there are two set screws (on top) with covers over them to control when they get trigger. The manual states they are set at the factory and should not be adjusted. The set screws affect how soon the internal micro switches trigger to stop the bridge movement. Just pop the covers and try to make minor adjustments. Be careful. If you over adjust, it could break gears in the gearbox as they are all PLASTIC. Lionel does not indicate which set screw affects which direction.
Thank you for your response. Can you explain how the bridge is removed.
It was a few years ago when I had it apart. I remember removing the screws from base to remove the cover. That exposed the screws for the bridge. The whole bridge assemble should lift out after you disconnect the wires running to the bridge lights. My bridge is currently installed on the layout and I cannot remove it to check out how I did it.
Again, thank you for responding.
