The tender of my Lionel B-6 switcher (6-18000) derails upon entering an 031 Ross switch.  It happens when entering the switch from the curved side.  I can't see why it's happening; the switch is thrown for the curve and the "throw" is good.  I thought it was the screw closest to the track holding down the DZ-1000 switch machine, but removal made no difference.  Does this engine/tender combo require larger than 031 curves or switches?  The owner's sheet says nothing about track size requirements.

Even my 1980s vintage "The General" will not go thru the switches, but at least I know why: the pilot is so low it strikes not only the screw, but the throw wire as well.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Give Steve at Ross Switches a call.  I have a B-6 and have no trouble running it through my Ross switches, albeit they are of a wider radius. The B-6 is built to scale dimensions and that may be your problem.  Steve is very straightforward and if there is a problem with the switch, and there may be, he will take care of it. He stands behind his product. He certainly will be able to answer the basic question as to compatibility between your locomotive and the switch.
