Hi all,
I have a recently-acquired Lionel 6-24589 Santa Fe F-7 A-B-A set from 2006. I've discovered that I cannot change the TMCC address on the lead powered unit from the default engine "1". I'm using the Legacy Cab-2 and have never had any problems changing the address on other locomotives, and I have no problems with the other non-powered A and B units from this set.
As a first step of diagnosis, I have popped the shell off and checked the run/program switch for continuity in the program position and no continuity in the run position, and it checks out fine. As a next step in diagnosis, I was going to swap in the R4LC from one of the non-powered units to see if I can program it when plugged into the problem engine. The wires for the run/program switch run down below the smoke unit into a rather hard to reach spot on the motherboard, so before pulling things apart to check for wire continuity, I was going to try the easy-to-reach R4LC board instead.
Is this what you TMCC gurus would recommend? Is there any risk involved in trying this? Don't want to screw anything up with a relatively expensive board, but it seems logical enough to my knowledge.
Unrelated, but this engine has got some incredible thumping bass response! At least on par if not better than a newer Legacy F3 superbass unit I have. Did they just put a really beefy speaker in there or did it have a better sound enclosure or something?
Cheers,
Woody
