Do you have any suggestions for Lionel track turnouts #1122? I have two and they switch quickly one direction but are sluggish the other direction.  By hand they move smooth and easy both directions. I thought about isolating a rail on a track piece before the turnouts to give them more time to fully switch when the train approaches.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had them for awhile and after cleaning, lubricating and modifying them found them to be very reliable.

Do an Internet search on servoguy and 1122 he has instructions on cleaning them.  I also modified them for fixed voltage accessory power vs running off track power.  Finally there is a CD, capacitance discharge, modification from Rob Nelson.  This stops the problem of having a train on the switch keeping the solenoid on and burning it up.

First, you should determine if you have the initial edition of the 1122 or the 1122 E edition.

If you are really ambitious, these modifications will give you best operation, but I hate that it is irreversible:

The original 1122 service documents are kindly hosted by Olsens and offer maintenance tips:

It could be that the coil for the "slow" direction has been cooked by a parked train. You can check the resistance of each coil to see if they are about the same.
