Love Lionel.  GG-1s are great.  I guess the question is do the added features justify paying a huge premium over what's been offered before.  I'm sure sparking pantographs are cool to look at (and they would probably spark anyway if powered from overhead) but I'm just not feelin it for this.  Happy for anyone who wants one and can afford one but I am really wondering about this one.  Is this really gonna sell?  BigRail

A full scale GG1's preferred 0-72 curves eliminates me as a prospective buyer.  However, I'm betting that Lionel will make an outstanding model and looking forward to seeing AND hearing this model in action.

The V/L GG1 w/ added features can have the same "initial" response that the V/L Big Boy received.  Although there were many people who already had a scale big boy and somewhat downplayed another BB w/ legacy, I think many were later swayed to order/buy the new version based on Lionel's added features and great product demos.

A wired catenary looks great on a layout and an operational CAT is a "neat" feature, but IMO, to have a catenary or not is not that important because I think it is safe to say that the majority of operators with or without GG1's or electrics likely do not have CATS on their layouts, let alone fully operating CAT.  I think Lionel has the tech and resources to make the LED strobe to closely replicate the arcing pantograph. Combine those visual effects with stereo sound and this GG1 can be an extremely attractive model to those that can run and afford the likely TBD price.

I'm also very interested to see their old rivets version and if this rendition will be new tooling or some other method (decal/pad print) to bring out the rivet look.

Life's the same, I'm moving in stereo

Looks like my wallet will be safe with this introduction.  I'm sure it will be awesome, just not my cup of tea.

I am interested to see the sparking pantographs though....sounds pretty cool.

I checked the Lionel website, and the brochure is not there, at least from my search. Thought it would go live right after the announcement.

I bet it will sell well, GG1's are popular no doubt about it,Electrics are just boring to me personally.

Gotta give it to Lionel for delivering features never implemented on the stuff we buy though.

It's Sounding like they are shooting for a lot of detail since they are working with the museum, I'm sure it will be very nice, I just personally don't want one.
