There are 35 PFE reefers on that train. I have all the scale ones that Lionel has made so far and when the 3 pack of Vision Line PFEs with sound ship I will add them to the train.
Awesome engine and great videos

Great looking engine, looks like it would pull a lot of cars, thanks for posting the video.

A few more videos ... friend stopped by with his 4014 today.
Wow • Great layout and operating session with the U.P. Big Boy. Like all the boxcars / reefers and slow run by.
• Cheers from Michigan

Hey Dave, As Passenger Train Collector said, what a great line up of cars!!! Wow, your layout is really nice and I love the video's. Keep up the good work and call Rich Melvin, he could make a great Video of Your Layout...Happy New Year....

That is a bit of an understatement. She was hauling about 35 cars and did not break a sweat. I'm guessing that beast could pull the bumpers off a dump-truck.
Davesite,
A couple of questions:
How close does 4014 come to that basement pole? From the angle in the video looks like it was only a fraction of an inch.
Why doesn't 4012's tender say Scranton on the side? I loved that thread.
Enjoy the Big Boys, I am going with my friend Kevin to pick up a 4014 on Saturday.

UPS notified us that our Lionel Vision Big Boy #2006 will be delivered today. (Others received theirs before Christmas or before New Years.) We're happy that it will be here for the weekend! Ours models the giant residing at the Missouri Transportation Museum outside St. Louis. We'll see how it tackles O-84 curves.
Vision Line Legacy Big Boy 4012 meets JLC TMCC Challenger 3985....
Dave,
Awesome !
How big is your layout?
Dave,
Great videos and great engine. Have fun.

OK, I'm sold; but one question:
Besides the appearance of the 4012 and 4014, I was immediately sold on the deep base of the whistle. Is that characteristic of each? I noticed 2 tenders; are the speakers in both?

Great videos!!! Two Big Boys running past each...priceless!
Dave,
Thanks for making an great video. Lionel might want to consider using it to demonstrate the engine pulling capacity.

The whistle is the same on each of the Vision Big Boy models. The second tenders behind the Big Boys in the videos above do not have speakers. They are just auxiliary tenders that feature a backup light and coil couplers, nothing more. The Vision Big Boy itself has one speaker in the boiler and two in its tender.
Thank you for sharing! That was 1 Longest set of PFE cars I've ever seen on video!
Since I am still working designing my to be layout, I am convinced that I will need a Big Boy 4012 or 4014 in the summer at the time I construct my layout. So, just a few newbie questions:
If a CW-80 transformer will push my Polar Express and Pacific B&O with only moderate lighted accessories around my 25 X 15 layout; will the Big Boy require an even bigger transformer? Each will be on its separate line. I don't plan on having a consist of any great length.
I saw somewhere that a Big Boy requires at least a 72 curve; I think it was mentioned in this thread that 81 was being used. Can you get away with 72??
Thanks, inspired newbie,
RickM46
