The Lionel and Kusan O-27 FA2's look the same to me. Does anyone know if their body shells were made from the same molds? If so, I'd be grateful to know whose molds were used and how the deal came to be made. Thanks.

No deals, Kusan developed their own. Overall not as good as the early(die cast frame) Lionel Alcos, better than the later(stamped frame) ones. Detailing was equivalent for the most part.
Thanks. I had always wondered . . .
On some of my Kusan Alcos I have replaced the 2 rail powered frame with a K-Line 3 rail powered frame. Matches up almost perfectly, just a little shaving of the Kusam front coupler opening is required.
Bill T - That would be not a K-Line by Lionel, but a Maury Kline K-Line, right? Reason I ask is that I had a beastly time fitting a K-Line by Lionel frame assembly into a Kusan dummy. The screw holes were aligned, but all the heights were different - screw pads, truck height, apron opening like you mentioned, and the circuit board had to be really stuffed due to height restrictions. Or maybe the Kusan dummy shell differs significantly from the powered unit.
