What looks like the return of the little Docksider in the Gingerbread set is welcome.  Hopefully that means this engine may be coming out of retirement, I know lots of folks have missed it.

I find it interesting that there are 4 new Presidents cars and they still say Made In USA.  Hopefully this means Lionel has already found a new US company to try to continue this trend for the boxcars.

I'm not unpleased to see the Yankees/Mets  cars and the Yankees Steam set, but doubt I'd order both.

Was afraid of this. Seems like a step backwards in that you cant run the engines with just a regular transformer (no remote).  What would it take to have a simple switch on the engine that would allow for conventional operation ?

Looking forward to a Phillies set!

And then when the Mets set goes on blowout due to lack of sales, I'll buy one to "accidentally" run off the edge of my layout.

Go Phil's! Mike Schmidt is down in the spring training camp as a batting coach, we need some Philadelphia subway cars Jerry.

Yes this very interesting that very are announcing these new cars, since they announced that they are going to make another run of 2012 holiday box car but made in China.

There is a change to the text though. It now just reads as fully assembled in the USA, not fully manufactured and assembled in the USA. So I expect that some parts have been made abroad.

The new type of controller "TrainChief" is like the one first offered with the new Thomas the Tank engine that was in the Lionel Christmas 2012 catalog. The transformer in that set is a 18 volt power supply like one used to charge your phone, razor or some printers. The sets with the TrainChief controller can operate with a regular transformer but you will still need the controller to operate the engine.

The pistol grip controllers ones that are shown on the bottom are for G gauge trains.

I do not know what the prices are for the new sets, but the newer Thomas sets last year were like $70 cheaper then the regular Thomas set.
