Lionmaster Challenger - rear truck comes partially off track when going through 036 fastrack switch

It's the track configuration that causes the derailment.  While the LionMaster line does a wonderful job of negotiating tight curves, articulated engines in particular have it tough anytime they come up against an "S" in the track.  Even the same arrangement in 072 switches would present some difficulty for the otherwise agile LionMaster.

Thank you Bruce, I will take that S out of there and give it a few trial runs. I had that S curve in there so I could fit a few small passenger stations in between the tracks so if this works I will figure something else out.

Well, I took out the "S" out on both ends, and it made it through the first switch with no problems, but exiting the inner loop and at the same place in the video it did the exact same thing.

Back to the drawing board.

Mine had to co back to Lionel for the same thing plus a bad IR sensor. Lionel was able to fix it and only time will tell if it does is again. I am running Atlas O-45 curves. The same problem happened to me also with a Lionel Mikado. It when back to Lionel three times and I could never get it working. Lucky the dealer took it back for a refund. 

I'll knock on wood. So far no derailing on any 0 72 fastrack switches.

That is on none  of my 3 new LionMasters from the last catalog. I tried, forward, backing no problems YET.

I agree with Rock, been there done that before. That's why all the 0-36 are gone.

Yup, I agree with you guys and I'm just going to install O72 switches at least on the outer loop connecting to the inner one. Save the 036 for a small yard with rolling stock and a small switcher.
