     The elevated scenes remind me of Sunrise Highway. I lived 2 blocks from the Pt Jefferson line Northport station. Your pics bring back the visuals.

   Another cold rainy day in Nashville. Sunday LIRR MU action is taking over...…..

I believe the LIRR never had full length RPO cars. The LIRR have combination Baggage RPO mail cars on some of the long distance trains to Eastern LI. The US Mail service on the LIRR was terminated on October 1962. I was a mail clerk on some of these trains until October 1961 when I resigned from the US Mail service.

They did have 60' RPO's but...……..

The Lionel LIRR RPO is incorrect and just a cookie cutter car made universal for all roads from a marketing standpoint. The 737 never had that many windows and also contained a large baggage door. Later on it was assigned to MOW service. Problem with the LIRR and toy train makers is that the LIRR customized or purchased cars that were unique to their road. I like the detail on the car and it complements Weavers old B-60 series baggage car.

Unless MTH , Atlas O or Lionel steps up to producing Ping Pongs, Pullman 2 door  commuter style coaches, double deckers and P75 electric Zip cars, we will never have true LIRR accuracy, just more common incorrect cookies that true fans may not want.

With todays 3d Printer production it should be cost effective to offer them or really anything that has not been offered in O yet.

                                    It's 3r and a long time ago, so who really cares?

3rd rail did some brass mp54 and some coaches and combo car for the LIRR in brass and in three rail at least 10 years ago— they were super nice problem for me was they were in prr Tuscan and not in the orange and gray— I asked Scott Mann when they were announced to please consider changing the paint scheme to no avail— there are enough LIRR fans I bet if Scott did another run with the 60’s paint and good sound system they would sell out in a heartbeat—

Would only be interested in compressed 72' correct looking commuter coaches by MTH. True O 72' cars are way to long for most layouts. So Scotts GGD would not be a player for my 3r market.

Beautiful LIRR modeling. I grew up near Merrick Station on the Babylon Branch and remember it when the tracks passed through Merrick at grade. Sometimes took the train to NYC from Hempstead as well.

I grew up in Amityville on the Babylon Branch and can only remember the temporary grade-crossing elimination station that replaced the beautiful depot before the project began.  While some of the earlier grade-crossing elimination stations had a little style (Massapequa & Seaford), Amityville, Copiague, and Lindenhurst got ugly 70's era unadorned MTA schlock.

Merrick also had a beautiful station just like this one. It was removed during the grade-crossing elimination project.

Just curious how many of you would sign on to ask Scott Mann of 3rd rail to redo the mp54 and coaches in the 60’s paint scheme maybe we can get a special run for us kids of LI in the ‘60’s. I know MTH did them and Sirt has done wonders correcting and modifying them but to get them in brass with the right paint and decent electronics would be something 

I would buy an LIRR MP54 coach in the gray "Dashing Dan" livery. The real icing on the cake would be a double-decker model. That might sell enough to LIRR people.
