I'd like to once again mention that we really need a dedicated page of a listing of forum sponsors and link to their pages. As it is the banners have become too many and to small to really see. And it is like playing "Whack a Mole" waiting to see where the ad that you wanted to see will pop up next.

However today I came in and the base that I work at has implemented Ad Block software which we have no control over so now the banners look like this.

LOL! That made me laugh!

Chris, your suggestion is a good one, but it will take some development time for me to implement this.

If we are able to make this page, it still has to be driven from the Banner Advertiser Management System (BAMS) database, so we can track all the impressions and clicks for the advertisers. In doing this, I am essentially trying to make the BAMS do something it really wasn't designed to do. I don't think it is impossible, but it is going to take a little head-scratching time to figure out how to do it.

It is on my list of things to do, but that list seems to get longer every day.

Well Chris....perhaps the blocking software was implemented because too many people that were supposed to be "working" were on the OGR forum instead...???  Hey, just kidding buddy!

Rich and I have talked about this many times.  I am in favor of it ONLY if it works in conjunction with the tracking for the banners.  It would have to appear like the index does in the magazine since in affect folks that don't want to take the time to find and click on a banner will just go to the index.  When they click on the name of the sponsor on the index, then it would register just like clicking on the banner.

Our tracking stats show something other than the banners being a disservice as they are now:  over 40 million banners were served last month with almost 8 million pages viewed and huge click through rates sometimes more than 10 times the national average.  Plenty of members and non-members are clicking on the banners.  It took me just 5 minutes to get every one of the sponsor's banners to appear.  I don't think that is an unreasonable amount of time to find one of them.

Never the less, we are looking at going forward with some sort of index.

Alan
