I'm going to be in the Albany, NY area this weekend (6/8,9). Does anyone know of a LHS in the area of SUNY Albany? Always like to visit a new shop. Thanks.

The two best in the area are:
JP's located on Rt. 2 east of the Latham circle (less than 10 miles from the Univ. at Albany). While he's mostly HO and N, he has a GREAT inventory of Floquil paints and is a truly nice guy.
Milepost Hobbies in Perth, NY on Rt 30 about 6 miles north of Amsterdam (Exit 27, NYS Thruway). A new store with a growing inventory of O gauge. Matt, the owner, is very personable and is very knowledgeable with many years experience in the hobby. About 25 - 30 miles from the Univ. at Albany.
There's another shop on Delaware Ave. in Albany that specializes in old Lionel (new and used) trains only, but i can't think of it's name. Nice guy runs it and is always willing to trade.
Any others? If you can't say anything nice about something, don't say anything at all.

P.S.
If you care to visit my layout, please contact me off line. Mention trains in your email to get past my spam filters. I'm 4 miles from Exit 28 NYS Thruway and less than 40 from the Univ at Albany.
Thanks for the tips, Jackson. I hope to have time to check one of them out. Appreciate the offer to see your layout but most likely won't have time this trip. Maby next time. Thanks for the offer, though.

The largest train store in the area with the best selection of O gauge is Mohawk Valley Railroad Company located at 2037 Hamburg Street in the Schenectady/Rotterdam area. Open until 6 today (Saturday).

Mohawk Valley rocks !!!!!!!!!!!! The cats and the layout are worth the trip At least they have a real O gauge selection
I second MVRR. Great selection, nice layout....and of course the cats Delaware and Hudson! Worth every mile you travel to get there.
My wife and I drove down from Montreal last weekend to check it out. Will definately be making a return trip.
I third (or is it fourth) the suggestion of a visit to MVRR. I have never been there, but we featured the store layout in the magazine and my good buddy and devoted contributor, Jim Policastro, helps out at the store on a regular basis. Give it a try!
