What are the differences between a MTH steam engine with Proto Sound and a MTH Rugged Rails steam engine with Loco Sound? Is Proto Sound the same as Proto 1.0? Which came first, Loco Sound or Proto Sound?

Loco sound is a pretty crude sound set. The boards are similar to PS1 boards but do not have very good fidelity and sound pretty bad. I remember they have a whistle and bell but not sure about prime mover sounds
PS/1 is conventional with very good sound quality.
LocoSound is crude sounds, but they do have prime mover/chuff sounds and the whistle/bell feature.
LocoSound engines have puffing smoke and speed control, which is a step up from the PS/1 functionality. Too bad they didn't give them better sound...
Locosound also has cruise.
Oh, what John said (speed control).
My RK RS3 had nice sounds, but the RK 2-8-0 sounded like a box-o-rox.
