I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with something like this before.

Recently my MTH Bantam Daylight with Loco sound has gone mute as far as the sound goes. The engine runs fine other than that. Last night I popped the tender open and found these two wires, green and blue, hanging out and not attached to anything where the grey wire is connected to the small sound board. However, I am unsure where to put these wires back into place as I believe this is the source of the sound problem.

I don't have any other locomotives with loco sound to compare this to and I was wondering if anyone has fixed this issue before?

Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Those two wires do indeed connect to that volume control.  I'm pretty sure the green connects to the center pin and the blue to the outside pin.  The good news is, you won't hurt anything if they're backwards, if it doesn't work you can reverse them.  My schematics don't have the color codes, so I'd have to trace the wires back to connectors to know for sure which is which.

With the PCB in the locomotive, the wire on the right would go to pin #3 of the tether, and the center pin would go to pin #8 of the tether.  The gray wire on the right should be going to pin #5 of the tether.

John,

Apologies for the late reply! Been very busy the last week or two! Thank you for the reply and tip! I'll be sure to try this on the tender when I get the chance!

Best,

Mark
