Last month, five units of an order for Class 66 locomotives placed with EMD by GB Railfreight set sail across the Atlantic. 66752-66756 were loaded aboard the HR Resolution at Norfolk and arrived in the UK at Newport several days later. The locomotives were then towed to Doncaster to be prepared for service.

Typically, when railroad equipment is transported by ship, the images most often seen are taken during the loading and unloading process. It's not often we have an opportunity to see it secured aboard a vessel; however, GBRf has been kind enough to make public a view of the Class 66s in the hold of the ship after being loaded at Norfolk. Given the uncommon nature of the photograph, I thought other forum members would enjoy seeing it.

As a follow up, Class 66s 66757-66766 are en route and scheduled to arrive in Newport on or about September 6th.

To get the locomotives from Muncie to Norfolk, they were moved dead in tow on their own wheels:

It's all about reading and comprehension.

That is so true. But the guy asked "where they were made" - NOT who made them. The maker WAS in the OP, but not where they were made.

He also asked "how they got to Norfolk" ....and that was NOT answered in the OP.

It took two other members, who took the time to give the correct information, to respond with the answers.

The guy can probably read, but I doubt he can mind read. Perhaps others can. As I read through the OP when I went back, I saw that his questions clearly were not to be answered by reading and comprehending.

Sorry, maybe that is just me, but I felt like he deserved a better response to his query.

Updating the thread, the next nine GBRf 66s have arrived in the UK and are en route from Newport to Doncaster. GBRf has been kind enough to post a photo taken from the cab of the last locomotive in the consist as it heads for Doncaster, providing us a unique perspective. The working locomotive is 66753, received as part of the previous delivery pictured at the beginning of the thread.
