Whatna world??
I don't get why that caboose is almost $200. I can get brass for a little more.
Ahh. It's only one auction. When all the caboose's start bringing in that kind of money, I'd guestion it.
2 bidders in search of ways to part with their money,
If you're a seller, this is what you hope for!
Look at the bidders. It's a bidding war between 2 bidders with more money than smarts.
A 3rd bidder stopped at $45.
I have 3 gold letter I-12s on the shelf. Would be lucky to get what I paid for them. A 4th gold lettered I-12 was 2 railed and changed to white lettering before Lionel came out with the white lettering.

Yes, if mine had been that valuable they never would have gotten the alcohol bath.
As they say, "A fool and his money."

The two bidders are novices, or shills. One has 17 feedback, and the other has 23.
I agree that neither has any sense.
I'm looking for a I-12, red ith gold lettering, but not at that price, whew.

Ebay, in general, is full of examples of overpaying by buyers who "just gotta have it". I watch for certain items to show up and eventually most things do pass through that venue for those of us who are patient, but often times they sell for more than I'm willing to bid. I sometimes get a "bargain", at least in my own mind, and maybe someone else will think me the crazy guy who overpaid. Vicious cycle.

My experience with getting a hold of this caboose (in that particular road number) was that they were rather scarce on Ebay. I gave up looking for a few years before one suddenly popped up on the For Sale board and I snatched it up. I believe I paid $60.
Finally, I own something that has increased in value.
