Sunset did a very nice highly detailed one in brass before the turn of the century (2000). They do turn up at O Scale shows. It was brass and undecorated as delivered.

I am not sure the brass one done by Williams in 2 rail is to scale. I have been told the firebox is over sized (too long to accomdate the motor). This one does not have quite the level of detail as the sunset. It shows up quite often at O scale shows and is quite a bit cheaper than the Sunset version.

My experience with the newer diecast stuff has not impressed me. Detail is very nice, but design of the mechanisms I have had in hand is very poor.

Has anyone actually measured out the Williams Mikado? My guess is that Williams used their USRA Pacific superstructure, which would make it a light Mike with the wrong sandbox (at least).

I don't think the brass William's Pacific or the Mikado are USRA light versions. Kline/Weaver and MTH both have a pretty good USRA light boilers for their Pacifics and Mikados. The Williams Mikado is listed as a Heavy USRA engine.

Well, I have a Williams light mike and an Overland light mike on the premises. I thought the Williams was undersize, since it really looks small. Nope, it is the same size as Overland, which is presumably a scale model.

I prefer larger models, so someday the Williams will go - it pretty much stays in its box. The Overland belongs to a friend. At ten feet, either looks ok on a freight train in motion.

The only heavy USRA mike I am familiar with in O Scale is the Hines Lines. It is a runner, not a looker.

I corresponded with a gentleman in Delaware that was selling his O scale off through a magazine add.  I bought a Sunset B&O L1a a few months ago. It arrived quickly and was new in the box.   I just sent him a MO for another engine.    He has a Sunset B&O Q4 left as well as a B&O Sunset E24 and B&O 0-4-0 left.  He wants 1,000 for the Mike and 500 for the E 24 and 300 for the switcher.  Here is his email.  He does not visit this forum.rrrob2@verizon.net
