MTH PRR MP-54 units on AGHR, imaginary catenary. Open House some years ago.

Looking for prototype photos of PRR F and E units with roofline radio systems. I will be adding radio systems to my MTH and Williams engines.

Get the PRR diesel YEars book volumes by Morning sun as well as
the PRR Diesel series of books by Withers Publishing. You will not be disappointed!
Plenty of Pennsy in my roundhouse.....and yunz can take that to the bank !
My PRR interests are probably different than many here. I prefer the period 1900-1920. Here an MTH D16 overtakes a 3rd Rail H6sb, both detailed and backdated. Behind the D16a are cars I built from Labelle kits. It's amazing how the cliffs in the background look a lot like cinder blocks.
very nice 49. I have very similar looking cliffs next to my mainlines...
I started collecting Pennsy to limit my collection. I love steam era and early diesel so the Pennsy seemed to be the best bet to cover my preferences. My limited collection now includes:
Steam: E6, G5, H10, H3, A5, C1, D6, J1, 2-K4s, M1, S1, T1
Diesel: PAs, F3s, 2-RF16-Sharknose, VO1000, S1, Trainmaster, 1500HP Transfer Engine
Electric: GG1, E44
I also have about 6 or 7 cabin cars.
I guess the Pennsy is not a good road if you want to limit your collection.
Not me, uh-uh, but a friend collects Pennsy, and especially, Pennsy RPO cars, and I
have built and passed on O scale kits, such as Kasiner, on three rail trucks, and brought home and passed on various RTR Pennsy RPO's, as found. There have been a few Pennsy RPO's made in three rail over time.
Where is Neal in this thread?
Started out wanting one of every locomotive the Standard of the world used, changed that to just MTH and realized I don't have enough room or money to even do that so now just targeting steam. Still think I am nuts someday I will have them all out of the box and will be able to see what I have.
I did not get interested in toy trains until I met my father-in-law. He was into HO then O trains, and I would run trains with him whenever we visited. He was a great fan of the Pennsy, so I guess that is where I got my Pennsy bug.
To focus (limit?) my buying, my layout is set in the very late 1940s. Unfortunately, during this time the Pennsy had about 50 different types of engines so my buying was not limited very much. I have nearly all the steamers and several diesels but only a few electrics. Here are my favorites.

Being born and raised in my childhood years in Lancaster County PA and seeing GG-1's leaving Lancaster headed to Harrisburg all the time from the hill on my Grandfather's Farm, I can say that I am proud to be an avid PRR Foamer!
Wonderful thread. A couple of pictures of my antique Weaver E8's on Patrick H's layout.
I have a nice Pennsy E-3 ABA pulling a passenger train in tuscan.
Check out the Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers site for more Pennsy pictures.

I too come from Pennsy territory and am a Pennsy collector/fan. I would like to see some of the earlier and less common of their locomotives mode. 3rd Rail once proposed to make the K5 but cancelled it when they didn't get the reservations.
SMR specializes in 19th century equipment and has made the D6 in two versions. They are making an 0-8-0 Baldwin flexible beam engine.

PS. One positive is that the magnificent Pennsy roster would be diluted by DD40s, etc. Hopefully, we will see fewer reruns of K4s and see some of the lesser known and rarer engines.
This is a great thread. I am loving all the beautiful pictures of my favorite Railroad. Thanks for starting this.
Jonathon and KC thanks. Awsome pics and collections.
Forgot to post some of my FP7s last night too. I really like these for my layout as they can pull a short string of P70s and fit right into place for the the size of my room.
Nice photos, gentlemen. Heard from one AGHR SPF; where's Pignatelli???
I am here, I have a few, need to unbox them and hang them on the wall. I will put them up next week. OGR will need a trilobite of data fields to handle it.
Rex your photos got lost.
I grew up in a home that had an unobstructed view of the Pennsy Mainline. Since I don't do photos, you'll have to trust me when I say that I'm into the PRR.

Hmm, Pennsy. Yeah I think I have the Standard Railroad of the World covered...
Here's #1737, the original K4s.
Here are my two Williams K4s locomotives double-heading.
Here's a better shot of one of my K4s (photo by Mike Mattei)
My Williams B6sb checks a clearance on the under layout long yard lead.
That's it for now.

They show up on my computer. I use Firefox. What do you use?

"Bout time you showed up. I was worried I'd have to dig out my 3rd Rail S2 Turbine and Williams brass cabin car on your behalf.
Don't be shy about that, Matt. They add class to your gi-normous collection.
The Tuscan ones are going to be hard to find. I don't have numbers on individual runs, but the total run of FP7s was only around 550-600 and 350 were done in Canadian Pacific. 60% of the orders were two rail.
I almost didn't get my set. I was supposed to receive an AB set in Tuscan two rail and and AB set in SP three rail. After a little confusion I ended up with three powered A units. Two in DGLE PRR and the one in Tuscan and all in two rail. I'm not complaining at all though! Just happy to have these.
The Tuscan FP7s were more consistently used in passenger service and regularly pulled the local to York until enough E units freed up to cover all passenger service relegating all FP7s to mainly freight service and passenger protection power. For the purists out there ... like me (apologies) ... these were the only F units to ever have Tuscan paint.
Here are some pictures of a few cars from each of my Pennsy passenger sets. They are all representative of the late 1940s.
