Need to find out if sounders are still available.

I just exchanged e-mails with Frank last week. They were out of them, but just received a shipment. He is modifying them to be louder as some people here thought they weren't loud enough. They should be available within a week or two.

Will they appear on the web site again? Last time I looked, I couldn't find them there.
I'm presuming the remote will be available as well? I've had several people ask me for a cost-effective sound solution, and this used to be a good solution, until you couldn't get them anymore.
they will have 2 prime mover sounds....MP-15 and SD45-2, and will work with the remote.
I was looking for Alco and F unit sounds, like what were offered before. Guess I'm out of luck.

Guess I 'm not out of luck. Frank e-mailed me and said there is a version with Alco and EMD 567 sounds too.
Now all I need is a version with Baldwin, FM, and GE U-boat sounds.

Is there any way that the mods to increase the volume could be retrofitted by those of us who have the old ones? If it's just swapping out a couple of transistors or something, it would be nice to have instructions posted.

Some people are never satisfied!
I purchased a few of these AC sounders last time MRC had them in stock. I was able to get decent volume when I installed the sounder in a passenger train baggage car. The speaker is in a small home made baffle and pointed right towards the door. The door has two "window openings" that allow the sound to be pointed directly out. I have an around the room layout in which one side of the train always faces in. The horn is now very noticeable. For all applications I recommend using the AC sounder in a location where the sound has no obstruction in the way (if possible).
BTW if you are able to buy the remote to access all of the sounds be aware that the instruction sheet for programming doesn't tell how to locate the different horn and motive diesel sounds. You just have to scroll through them and find something that you like.
If they increased the volume on the AC sounder a bit it would be perfect. This and the Williams Trueblast horn are my favorite add on options for my MPC engines. The MRC has the edge on extras as it offers so many sounds...coupling, brake release, motive power, dynamic braking, bell, & horn and remote programming. The Williams with bell, horn and baffled speaker is simpler but louder though. Both install with a simple two wire hookup.
Excellent products to add for sound.
Frank,
I would like to get my hands on a couple of these. Will the remote be reissued?

I may spring for one to try this time around but last time I was disappointed .
It just wasn't loud enough.
