I’m in the market for a GoPro camera for 2 uses.
1 to wear it in October when I take the throttle of 475 at Strasburg
2 to mount on a train and get shots running around my club layout.
Ive been looking at the Hero5 or the Hero7.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions I’d love to hear them.

I have the 3 and the 6. I suggest getting the 7. I used a sticky mount on an old flat car to mount the camera. Works great either in the front or the rear.
A pal of mine let me borrow a Hero 4 and I made a test vid of the T1 getting chased around:
There are some other view settings that aren’t as fisheyed on the 4. I’m sure the 7 is nicer and more stable and I may get one eventually. Not sure if I really like the footage so far, it’s kinda Mountain Dew totally extreme or something.

The image quality looks great, but your right that fish eye is a bit “extreme” lol
The fish eye is easily corrected with the software included. Check this video on my youtube,it was done with a 3.
Greg, I'm on my third or fourth GoPro camera and they are great for what they were designed to do. An action camera but not so good as a layout camera. They can't focus close and there lens in my opinion is way to wide and high. There are many other cameras that you can change the focal length through a zoom lens and get good shots. I don't like seeing walls or ceilings in a shot. I also like to control the exposure of the camera. I use mine as a dive camera, as layout camera no. Don
