I am looking for a smaller trolley that can operate on SuperStreets 16 and 21" track, preferably with a reverse unit but not imperative, and something that can run at a slower realistic speed. I see MTH, Industrial Rail, and Lionel trolleys. I had a couple of bump and go trolleys years ago that didn't run well, maybe they've improved since, and want to see if anyone else runs trolleys and your experiences/recommendations.

My experience running my MTH 30-2581 Bump-and-go trolley may not agree with Wild Mary’s.  Mine runs fine on D-21 Superstreets curves UNATTENDED but not on D-16 curves without manually adjusting the transformer voltage every time it enters and exits the curves.  When running at a realistic-looking trolley speed on straight track it will slow and stop completely in the middle of the D-16 curves.  I have to adjust the throttle every time it enters those curves to provide additional voltage to get it through the curve without stopping.  If I leave the throttle on that setting after it exits the curves it will fly down the straightaway at a very unrealistic fast speed for a trolley!

So if you want a trolley for which you can set the throttle and let it run unattended realistically by itself through D-16 curves while you’re occupied running other trains or talking to visitors this one’s not for you.  OTOH if you want to be a hands-on trolley operator and increase the transformer voltage to get it through each D-16 curve and then decrease the voltage as it exits each curve, then this one would be an economical option.

Bill
