I’m doing an amusement themed layout and looking for some ideas for the mid-way between the amusements.  I’d like to use the Lemax large pebble mat but there is no way to flatten it out.  I’ve tried an iron and hot water too soften it to no avail.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  I don’t want to paint the carpet just looking for something to mimic the areas between the amusements.

I’d also like some people walking adults as well as children proportioned similar to the Lemax figures. I’ve looked at O and G scale but the former is too small and the latter too large.

  I don’t have a heat gun.

I picked one up from harbor freight years ago. From shrink wrap tubing, to bending plastic trucks slightly to free up binding wheels, to loosening adhesives. There are lots of uses for a $13 tool.

If it was plain plywood I'd suggest rubber cement. The kind you apply to both surfaces, let dry, then stick together, but not sure how it'd work with carpet.
