That’s unfortunate but the correct decision for the current situation. 
Time to cancel those reservations and make new bookings for April and hope for the best.
Let’s look on the bright side. When April 2020 was cancelled I took that money I had saved and was going to add it to my saved October money. Now I’ll add all that money to my April 2021 saved money and certainly have my pockets full. I just pray I live that long to spend it.👍

Funny somehow I find myself not really being upset about it. I'm finding I didn't really miss it. Never did rebook my room for October. Maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder of it. Until then I 'll spend locally and support the forum.
If they did decide to have it I probably would have went anyways though.
This is probably a good decision with all that’s happening with the current Pandemic, and will hopefully allow our great medical staff time to prepare a quality vaccine to prevent more spreading. Yes, trains are Fun, however our health and others health are of the utmost importance. Sorry to hear it’s canceled, but hopefully by April 2021 We can have a safe and fun time seeing our friends, our vendors, and of course the trains. Stay safe, stay healthy, Pray Continually. All my York funds have gone to purchases at hobby shops this year plus some nice pieces I have picked up at a few of the online auctions.
With the demographics of our hobby, and the fact that this is "toy trains for fun and enrichment" except for those in the business, it's a good decision.
Not a surprise.....let’s just hope and pray one of these vaccines works out.
Cancelling is the right thing to do......but I feel for all the York merchants and residents who depend on these kind of “trade shows” to give a kick to their businesses.....

I already discounted the Fall York, there's no way it could go forward in this environment. Time to change the hotel reservations... AGAIN! 
That's no surprise. Did anyone really expect to see a fall show this year?
Smart decision. In addition to the medical risks, it avoids the possibility that a large segment of train folks would have stayed away anyway, which would have been a major blow.
Reservations for April have been made - the date falls in what might be my first week of retirement.
Fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
I even got a better rate for the new April reservations, that was a nice surprise, $100 more to spend at the meet. 
Unfortunately I think the 2020 train show season is a wash but better to be safe and ride out the storm.

If you want the York experience, crawl under your layout or go into the closet where you store the unused items, pack them in the trunk of your car and drive around the block, maybe a jaunt on the interstate, stop at a fast food restaurant (make sure you pay too much) on October 23rd and then bring them back into the house. You'll be surprised what you forgot you have already.
Lets hope we get the vaccine by the end of the year. I believe that the April meet is the week of April 18th. The meet being on April 22nd, 23rd & 24th.
Now I have to call the Wyndham again.
Well, Ken Jr and company will hopefully give us another great virtual York come October. That we can look forward to.
Maybe I can finally go to York next Spring, and meet some Forumites at the gatherings. I want to take Neal Schorr's scenic route across Pennsylvania and visit relatives, too, so, if it's again safe to travel and gather, it'll be a winner.
Let's see, . . . 2-lane Pennsylvania, Altoona, Strasburg, Steamtown (Alcos), Philly, Palmyra, Chautauqua, Pittsburgh, and then maybe zig zagging along the Santa Fe from Chicago to Kansas City . . . that ought to be 5,000+ enjoyable miles.
I am going anyway. I will park outside the orange hall and social distance. Hope to hit some of the great hobby shops out east and enjoy a week off (I have the vacation days and need to get out of the house!).

Seriously; having grown up in PA along the old PRR Middle Division, the state is a must for anyone with an appreciation for railroading.

Example: I'll probably spend $40 to get there and back. So, I need to spend the equivalent amount in saved eBay shipping charges. It's like being able to purchase product with your shipping charges.
I've got this figured out perfectly in order to justify my spending.

Don't forget to put price tags on them which reflect prices from 15-20 years ago.

If you're coming as far east as Boston to visit Charles Ro, make sure you call first. They are currently still only doing mail order and curbside pick-up.

The Jacksonville,Arkansas train Show is Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm! The meet is sold out but smaller than usual due to spacing of tables and fewer club layouts. Only a limited amount of people will be allowed in at once. I will be there helping Craig and the gang from Arkansas Traveller Hobbies! Stop by and say HI!!

Wow! My friend that told me about it must have got it wrong.
It's going to be hard for the host organization to limit admittance.
If they do so with diligence, then I know I would not be willing to make the drive, then wait and wait, and not get it in, or only get in with an hour to go and the tables are picked over.
Hm. May need to reconsider.
Thanks very much for your information, Ricky. This is a new set of circumstances. I'll have to rethink my hair-brained idea of a road trip (3+ hours one way) to a train meet.

No surprise on this October York cancelation. Looking forward to the York show in October 2021.
Im not planning on a York in April. There are many requirements to safely meet and probably problems that are yet to be discovered. And the logistics of manufacturing and distributing the cure will be an enormous task.
I would love to be wrong.

Yeah, I think a few people did. A pal of mine, who often has only passing familiarity with reality as we'd define it, was utterly flabbergasted. But this is a guy who still thinks there'll be a full season of pro/college football this fall.
I'd think most people, if they're smart, have written off every public event of any kind until well into 2021 (and frankly, I'm betting on much further than that).

No,don't reconsider ! Just come on down! The organizer is a retired Air Force Colonel. This is the 10th show he's organized and believe me when I say it is truly a well run show with military precision. It is a large,spacious venue and everyone's safety and well being has been considered. Last year there were about 20 layouts and 190+ tables. I will personally make sure you get in!
Having already missed the April York meet, I wonder if there is counseling for those of us who can't really face missing another one?

How about we take it one announcement at a time?
After all, if you want to predict the ultimate doom and gloom, this could go on for 50 years or more, depending on how successful the vaccine(s) is(are). Anyone writing next April off already, what makes you think October 2021, or April 2022, or even October 2030 will be any different?
Obviously with things still like this, a decision for 2 months out was likely going to end like this. Predicting we will be in the same exact boat 6 months from now is one heck of a lot of pessimism.
(hopefully there is not a spot for the vaccine on the shelf next to the non-existent HIV/AIDS vaccine that people have been trying to develop since the early 80's) Of course by then, we'll have 2 to 2 1/2 generations lost since no one can safely get close to one another.
(sarcasm/rant mode off).
I predict that there will be a meet in April. I think we will have the vaccine before the end of the year.

The Christmas show at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds put on by the Music City Chapter of the TCA has been canceled also.
