The "Little Giant" in snow a couple of miles from my house in the day.
I thought the above painting, though not "Christmas-ized" as much as some neat artistic renderings, showed a bit of the work-a-day side of railroader's "Holiday Spirit".
What is the "Little Giant" to which you refer?

Not a Christmas picture per se, but I like it:
I took this in February, about 23 miles from the Coast, on our way up into the National Forest to cut firewood. The sun was just coming up, so the lighting was exactly what you see here; no Photoshop involved.

I see Bostonpete beat me to it.
The P&LE got the nickname from the tonnage they moved between the approximate 100-miles of the Youngstown and Pittsburgh steel mills. The second and first largest steel producer back in the day.

What captured my eye initially in this picture were the lightning striped NYC units. Mr. Fog always has a such a great eye for proportions and he really nailed those F's.

Might I suggest that you change the title of the thread to a more descriptive title? I seem to recall years ago that people would post holiday cards in a thread and it seems like that is what we're doing here.

Yes Lou, I'm very proud that this bridge is a block and half away from my house in Savage, Md. The last remaining iron truss bridge of its kind in existence, designed by Wendal Bollman. It's registered as a National Historic Landmark. At one time the B&O had about 100 of these bridges throughout it's system. This design was the first iron truss railroad bridge used in the US. The Howard County Dept of Park's ( who now owns and cars for the bridge ) decorates this bridge each holiday season for all to enjoy. No longer in use as working railroad bridge, I do remember a time when the bridge had B&O open hoppers parked on it for about a year. At other times, boxcars were pushed across it to service the mill on the other side as well. I have a model of the bridge on my layout.

Thank you very much for those details. Using Google maps I was able to locate the bridge. Using street view I was able to get up close to view the engineering details and even view and read the historical marker, information that you have already provided.

Often l have Colorado railroad cards from Leanin' Tree, but this year l did not get any. I always want trains, water mills, or covered bridges on my cards, and walked out of a Hallmark store empty handed.
