I heard he quietly retired.
Isn't Lou Kovach Rich Melvin's nephew ?
Rich did the voiceover, etc, for Lou's early demonstration videos of his TPCs.

NO! Where in the world did you get that idea?
The model train products that Lou made were just one of many electronic products his company made. His main business was designing and producing electronic circuitry for other industries.
He's listed as such on the recently issues patent documents for another part of the TMCC/Legacy system.
Patent was applied for in 2007, just issued in Oct 2011.
US Patent No. 8,030,871

To answer that honestly Rich, a colleague of mine told me that many years ago. It's obviously not true. Nonetheless, I viewed a VHS tape for the second time in 13 years. It's titled " Run Your Trains ! " with Lou Kovach, Owner of I C Controls. It is a well done video of Lou explaining all his electronic units he designed, such as the TPC's and other recorders and such. Very informative video on some very well designed Command Control Units. I also watched the credits for this video and found that Rich Melvin was the videographer & editor. Nice job Rich. I've included some scans of the front and rear cover of the video. Hope they show up well. !48th

Most of the IC Control devices could be had for $30 to $40 and they were/are still reliable.
After I watched Lou's video, this is what happened. I jumped on board with all the boxes. Still exploring all the features and I've had mine for about 10 years. I used to call IC Controls and get advice from Lou and his associates. Fun guy. I'm a big fan.

Mike and William - beautiful wiring jobs! Thanks for the photos - they're an inspiration.
I agree, Peter......Both of those wiring jobs are as good-looking as museum-quality scenery.

Everyone knows Ed Boyle is his nephew!
I remember that monitor. My guess is this, that events have overtaken the screen i.e. I would speculate that latest thinking involves using an iPad or tablet app rather than a custom screen. I understand jon Z had a iPhone app running Legacy....
