Chris, I have to disagree with you. A few years ago I was coming down from Boaton to Washington on the Acela Express. We were over 3 hours late, because a Metro North track inspector was struck and killed by a commuter train near Stamford, shutting down the entire 4-track main line.
if youve ever bumped an arm or a shin or a elbow on anything railroad you know the numbing pain incured if you launched yourself into the guage you probably wouid not be able to get up !! FAKE !!!!

Anecdote: I was riding Amtrak's Vermonter and stepped off to watch the engine change at New Haven. A workman was below the platform waiting to hook up the air and cables, when the engine backed down a bit fast and made a "hard" coupling. The workman ducked back, then looked up at the people on the platform and asked "am I still black?"
