I need a little info as to if anyone makes their own yellow decals. Mine are coming out transparent and just don;t show up.
Does anyone have a tip as to how to make yellow decals that show up on back backgrounds ??
Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Yellow is a weak pigment. I have never had success making my own yellow decals unless they are over a white base.

This is true.
Your only chance is to print on white decal paper and carefully cut out your design.
Agree with Dave and John. Use white decal paper, do you lettering in yellow, and set the background to the color of the piece you are working on. If you are lucky, you will get a pretty close match. You may need to carefully touch up the edge of the decal if the white shows.

If you need logos, etc I would highly recommend Circus City Decals to help you- I've done many projects with them and get top notch products and service. Totally worth it to do it right in my opinion.
What type of Yellow Decals?
Andrew
There are specific decal papers and LASER JET Printers to use to create quality decals.
Are you using a Ink Jet Printer, instead of a LASER JET printer?
There is a source for the correct paper, but I have to find it again.

No - just print in white. Then overlay with yellow. You then have clear background. Jim Wilhite and I did this a lot. Works.
Same with paint. You want a UP or CNW Diesel, or maybe an ice car? Spray white first.
We learned this on Piper Cubs. Either eight coats of yellow, or one coat white, one coat yellow. Some reds need an undercoat . . .

I'm not aware of any non-professional/commercial printer costing less than thousands of dollars that can print white.
Bob02, do you (or, for that matter anyone else here) have a printer with the capability of printing white?
There is a Laser Jet Paper that can be used to print white decals.

Yes, I assume that you are talking about white decal paper, not printing white.
There is a brand of Decal Paper that can be used with only a Laser Jet Printer to make white decals.
I have to find the web site again.

FWIW, the attached combo from MicroMark claims to provide quality decal printing in white and yellow for $790.00.
Drives me nuts. I prepare an elaborate response, complete with photos, and forget to hit the final submit button. Gone forever!
Rather than investing a grand, do what I do, and contact a decal maker. Bob Anson, of Jacksonville Fla, and a sometime participant here, does my current decal requirements. Callie Graphics does my vinyl stick-ons. Both are very good at what they do, and both are reasonable, as in around $25 for enough decals or stickies to do four or five cars.
Bob definitely does white on clear - see my Mobilgas tank below (above?). Just get him to print white, then put yellow or orange on top of that. Easy. And he has fonts that you don't have. His set did five Mobilgas tanks. His decal paper is way better than Wilhite's.
Callie did the SOUTHERN PACIFIC on my NW2 - they are brilliant orange, unlike the Micro Scale decals. The decals do not have white underneath, and the black shows through. My photo does not do the colors justice.
Herewith: Well, above and next post.
Here is the NW2. Colors got washed out - believe me when I say the orange just leaps out at you. You have seen my sand cast Erie-built, but note the cigar band. Callie did that with help from Jim, a forum participant. She also did a 15" high "Piper Cub Bear" for one of my airplanes! No more hand-painting!
Let me see if I can get photos to follow my text:oops - no band on this one. See my Erie-built thread on the 2-rail forum.

Bob2,
I'm saving this info about Bob Anson's service for future use.
Much thanks, seems an answer can always be found in this forum
That looks great. I have a tiger stripe GP7, and was stunned when I overlaid a second set of decals. The photo did not show the difference on my NW2. Yours looks just fine - I want my oranges and yellows to "jump out."
And I mean this in the nicest and most friendly way, but all my photos are copyright. If you ask, I will allow you to repeat them - any place but the thread where I post them. But you have to ask.
