I acquired a used MTH Maple Donuts building a couple years ago.  I recently bought an assortment of six 1-story additions, so I pulled out the old building to make a 9 story tower.  Much of the effort involved carefully popping out 101 windows and 10 doors for repainting in Rustoleum Camo flat earth brown.  After masking the front window and roof, the sections were stacked and painted with Rustoleum Camo Khaki.  I left off all the window awnings except on the first floor and I blacked out random windows using black paper in place of the frosted glass. On re-assembly with the included adapters, the sections did not fit tightly together, so I had to remove about a 1/16" from the long standoffs that the adapters screw into.  So I reassembled the whole building and all was good except the Fresh Hot Donuts sign would not light.

Initially I checked the wiring and the On-Off switch and made sure the plugs and jacks and IC chips were tight.  Next I took the base off a similar building and plugged in the Donuts sign to its controller.  Fortunately the sign worked.  So back to the original controller for more troubleshooting.  I checked the AC voltage at the red/black power wires (OK) then followed the traces through the power switch to the bridge rectifier.  Turns out the power switch was bad.   Shorting out the switch turned on the sign.  Since I will use the power switch exactly never, I just formed a solder bridge across the leads.
