I have been bringing the general public to my home for 33 years to see my layout during my annual Christmas open house.  It has never been any problem, in fact it might be the best part of the hobby.  Sharing it with others.  I have already had over 700 people this year and may have another 200 the last 2 dates.

It's great what he did to remember his dad.

Lots of folks open their home this time of year for layout tours.  Like everything, it comes with risk, but with a little planning most can be mitigated.   If they didn't go successfully so many wouldn't still do it.   I mostly see it with HO layouts but there are a handful of O Scale layouts open to the public.
