I would appreciate some advice on which company makes manual switch throws for Gargraves switches. Also does anyone have any successful experience with homemade switch throws? Thank you. Odd-d

rattler 21-----Thank you for your advice. I will look into Caboose Industries. Odd-d
I tried some Caboose throws years ago and they didn't work well on the Gargraves turnouts I had at the time. It wouldn't throw the Gargraves all the way over. May work well with other or newer turnouts. Suggest getting one and testing it out on the turnouts you will be using before ordering a passle of them.
You have to make sure you are using the ones for O Gauge, not HO. They look very much alike, but the O has more throw to it. Also, I would make sure that I used the sprung version, the other is ridged and the throw has to be exact or the stock rail is pushed, because they over ride a little and the spring will keep the point rail tight and let the trow bar move as much as it has to. Also, don't push the actuating lever all the way down. It spreads the sides that hold the cam and becomes loose over time. Fully thrown, the lever should be horizontal and not pointing down. I have used Caboose Industries Manual throws for years with no problems.
I've got Ross switches, but use Caboose Industry throws on four of the switches. I have been very pleased with how they operate and they only cost a couple of bucks each.

If the switch is out of reach I used Bullfrog manual switch control and am very happy with it. I will use Bullfrog on all switches that I cant reach Caboose Industries ground throws. Read all about and or order from handlaidtrack.com
San Fernado Valley CA.
I have 13 Ross turnouts on my switching layout and they all have Caboose 208 ground throws and work flawlessly

There are two different O gauge throws. One is a solid throw mechanism and the other is spring loaded. We have had better results with Ross switches using the spring loaded one.
