Recently I was looking at pictures of some front end cars and noticed that they had brackets for marker lights. I know that many railroads pulled mail and REA cars on the end of a passenger trains for the convince of switching at a terminal or just dropping off for other destinations. How about those milk cars that you see on commuter trains in the NY/NJ area? Those Lionel milk cars would look real nice with some markers.

Sounds like a kit-bash project. 
The DLW ran their milk cars on the rear end of the electric MU trains. They had marker brackets for markers.
Almost all PRR passenger equipment had marker brackets on both ends. If a car was placed on the end.
All the PRR express and baggage cars I have seen pictures of had brackets for marker lights or had the modern ones built into the ends. I think all passenger cars on PRR had the brackets or built-ins.
But they would only be used when on the rear of a train I think.
