Hi everyone, hope you all can help! This Marx416 A Light Tower came with a bunch of accessories off of eBay and I have been trying to get it cleaned up and working. The wires were missing so I added new ones however the lights do not come on when I try to power it up. I have the wires touching the light sockets in the the back (haven't permanently attached them yet) but since they are touching I would expect them to light up. I had put in new bulbs as well (just removed them for the pictures here). Any ideas? Thanks, Harry

If I remember correctly, a wire from the center contact of each bulb socket runs to the insulated terminal in the base. The other side of the circuit is the frame itself. Hope you can get it working.
The first photo (shown on left) that comes up on google for a 416a suggests the two black wires connect to the centered eyelet (or whatever you call it). Which as trainman129 suggests, that the common connection is via the metal frame.
In your photo (shown on right) it seems like the two black wires are connected to the metal frame of each housing rather than to the eyelets? Not sure if that's what you mean by "touching the light sockets." Seems to me this would create a short circuit when you powered it up.

Right you are, Stan. They need to go to the center contact in the socket. What the right pic shows is a short circuit and the bulbs will never work .
Thanks everyone!! I will give that a try and see what happens.
