Since getting this Marx Commodore Vanderbilt back in January at the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show it has sat waiting to be worked on. However, due to school. I have had to put it on the back of my workbench waiting to be worked on.
All I did was oil the motor and test it to make sure it ran. Sounded like a blender had not been oiled in some time. When I found it, it's former clockwork motor was replaced with a electric motor, only needed to be oiled up.
However, the shell had to have been repainted long before I got it. I will be stripping her down today to do a full repaint. I'm debating on covering up the hole for the clockwork motor key though not sure how I would cover it up yet.
So finally going to start a special project with this locomotive
I will post more photos later.
Update- Just stripped all the paint off and cleaned the shell. Photos are posted bellow.
I will get some JB weld later to fill in the old clockwork holes.
Update #2 Covered the holes with JB weld I will paint the prime it tomorrow.
Update#3 Patched the holes and just put the first coat of primer on it waiting for it to dry before I put a second coat.
Update#4 Still got some touch up paint work to do and still have to clean the trim pieces and make some decals for the engine but she looks great so far but not done yet.
