I know this is made of plastic, but the Marx experts seem to hang out on Tinplate Trains, and anyway, Marx just seems to fit better under Tinplate.  Anyway...

May I ask what you guys know about some 1095 ATSF E7s that seem to have left the factory minus their yellow trim?  I remember seeing one pictured in a book once.  I have now acquired this dummy in an auction lot.  I am sure the red is original, and I know one thing from stripping several of the 1095s:  The yellow paint is tough, and couldn't possibly have been stripped off from this without removing most of the red as well.

The cast wheels came out in 1956 and were a Sears/Allstate exclusive for some time. They were mainly used on the deluxe cars, but I have even seen them on later Sears sets of 6" tin with the small tin diesels. The earliest of these cars had all 8 wheels with cast wheels. It was found the did not conduct as well, so on lighted cars, searchlight cars etc, one axles worth revered to tin wheels. The other 3 axles remained cast.
