This was a $10 train show find. Just wondering when these were made & what they're worth? The paint was shot & it was a little rusty so I cleaned it up & painted the tower gloss black & repaired the wiring/elec. posts/knobs. Top part just needed a good cleaning & 2 bulbs.

I bought one of these Marx towers brand new back in the 1960s. They were sold at retailers back them and perhaps before the 60s. Since getting back in the hobby I have bought several used ones at train shows for around $10 - $15.
Yours looks very nice after your reconditioning project!!
That particular style tower was available right up to the end of Marx.

Any idea when they started making these?
Thats a Marx 416A according to my Greenberg guide there were at least 5 color variations. They did not list a date but were made for many years probably starting in the 1940's. Lionel also made a similar tower.

You did a fine job and they look nice on a layout. Marx also made one in chrome that i have on my small layout.
