By 2004, Marx Trains had become Ameritrains. They continued with the same product as Marx Trains, but packaging changed to the new name as well as the Marx logo began disappearing as new litho runs were made. In 2006-7, Ameritrains introduced the first products that required new or modified tooling. 2006 was the new NW locomotive which I will cover later, 2007 was the twin tank cars. These used the existing 3/16 scale flat cars, but had shortened tanks to allow for two of them on the flat. Very attractive cars. Those of us that were regular buyers, were excited to see new products. Unfortunately these were the last new tooling items produced before the company folded.

Didn't the Flynns sell all their company to somebody who used to sell Marx, not for a while now, in the Orange hall at York?

The Flynn's sold in 2004 to the folks who ran the machine shop that did most of their work. By then it was called Ameritrains. Ameritrains ceased about 2008. In 2011, the tooling was acquired by Joe Bender who made a few cars, but he was not a train guy. A rear or so ago, the tooling and parts were sold to Mike Hungler. Mike is selling parts and leftovers. I believe he hopes to resurrect the line.
