Marx Trains (Modern Marx) Twin Tank Cars

great looking cars. dand shame the Flynn's couldn't keep their company going.

Never saw or heard of these, but never figured out their marketing means. My first question, and often a problem, was, "Are these available with the tilt, fork coupler.?"

Colorado, they came with either coupler if you asked when ordering. Mine all have the tilt fork coupler. Very seldom see these on the aftermarket.

David, I got started with Modern Marx quite late, but was still able to acquire a lot of it directly from a dealer (Thomas Valli) or direct from Marx Trains.

It does seem that either there is a great wealth of tinplate available out there, or you have the Midas touch! 

Any idea what happened with the tooling they used

Didn't the Flynns sell all their company to somebody who used to sell Marx, not for a while now, in the Orange hall at York?

The Flynn's sold in 2004 to the folks who ran the machine shop that did most of their work. By then it was called Ameritrains. Ameritrains ceased about 2008. In 2011, the tooling was acquired by Joe Bender who made a few cars, but he was not a train guy. A rear or so ago, the tooling and parts were sold to Mike Hungler. Mike is selling parts and leftovers. I believe he hopes to resurrect the line.
