Someone out there has to have painted Atlas O 2 or 3 rail track ties a matching color...If a piece breaks off, or you do a custom cut, the color that is left from the cut is not the same. Filing helps some but doesn't solve matching the color exactly. Another use is with Ross switches which have black ties.

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be helpful. I know there are many articles about painting the rails and ties other colors, I'm just trying to match the existing Atlas color.

There is at least 2 of us here that would appreciate any help! Thank you, Terry

While not an exact match. The only Atlas track I have is on my turntable. This is Microlux RR Tie Brown. It is available from Micromark and also Amazon. It comes ready to spray or you can get the brush on version.

Seems a little lighter to me. It may at least give you a starting point. The Microlux is made by Vallejos. You could check their paint charts out and maybe get it closer or finding a darker brown to mix with it. I believe they have an extensive line of military paints which should feature some browns. Just be sure whatever you buy to get flat.

Your other option may be Home Depot. They are good at matching colors. You may have to by a quart. But hobby paint today isn’t that cheap either. Especially if it has to be shipped.

Try "painting" the cut or damaged area lightly with Plastruct Plastic Weld and let dry.  It should smooth out the rough area and restore the color.

Rusty

Short summary. Plastic Weld worked great. Home Depot was able to give it a good shot (there is not much flat surface for them to get a great reading). PPU5-20 Sweet Molasses.

In the photo, you can see where I painted an Atlas screw and filled in a track screw hole.  Just what I was looking for and while it's not perfect, it's doing what I wanted.

Thank you, Terry
