That is very cool. You might be interested in a concept I recently found. One item from N scale I wish that some enterprising O scale outfit would duplicate as a product is the N scale Tomix 3076 Streetcar track kit. Rather than having a separate product line they integrated a conversion street system into their track system that snaps into place. Because it is simply preformed pieces the cost is amazingly low to do a conversion. I thought this was an ingenious and simple way to go to use the same track in two different configurations. It also accommodates switches.

I am.  Thank you.  I had not seen this.  I tried to build something like this to convert O-27 track to streets.  It took way to much time to make several pieces, but it did work.   It was too tedious to do by hand for long, but obvious that a factory jig could knock it out quickly - and cheaply. If I were Lionel or MTH or Atlas and wanted to get into the 'Streets market, I would go this way, converting my brand of track.  I do wish at least one other manufacturer would jump in . . .
