Measurement (length) of MTH Premier USRA 0-8-0 Steam loco + tender | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I'm looking to add a 0-8-0 steam loco to my layout and prefer the MTH version to Lionel's Legacy version because MTH offers two electrocouplers.

But I'm puzzled by the specs that MTH has published for their O Scale Premier 0-8-0 USRA Steam Engine, namely: Unit Measures: 21” x 2 5/8” x 3 11/16” (20-3701-1)

The Lionel version, however is said to be: PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS: SKU: 6-83208 Rail Line: Wabash Dimensions: 18 1/4" long

That's almost 3 inches difference ???

If someone has a Premier MTH 0-8-0 steam loco (from the 2017 catalog), would you be so kind as to measure it from coupler face to coupler face?

Here you go. Lionel at the the top, MTH below, both close coupled. The front edge of the rule even with the front of the front coupler. Just a bit over 18" for both. The MTH is a PS2 with wired tether.

They are similar but the Lionel engine has been upgraded with ERR Cruise. This engine was originally conventional. MTH has better detail though.
