Met this delightful young lady, Megan, who is a brakeman for the WMSR. She just graduated this past spring. She told me she wants to be a conductor, but must learn the brakeman's job first.

Here's Megan tieing down the train before the move you see above.

Good luck, youngster, and be safe!

So good to see a young lady on such a job.

There is/was a young woman who runs/ran the 2-8-2 at Chehalis, WA for some time (she's the daughter of one of the other engineers). She's run with 844 and 4449 at least once or twice (I was told she did the photo run-by, running 4449 at the Stampede Pass trip at the NRHS convention in 2011)...

She (can't remember her name) did not "run" 844, but did spend quite a bit of time firing 844 eastbound out of  the Dalles, back in 2010. Once I got 844 "out of town", with her watching what I did, firing, I then let her take it the rest of the way, at speeds over 75 MPH. She did a very good job, and there is an excellent video out there, pacing right beside the locomotive at speed.
