Is the Jts mea steam NADA scent actually scentless? I was wondering because the scented fluids bother my allergies. But they are sure the best smoke producing fluid around.
Thank you

Not totally, I too have problems with smoke, but Nada is as close to Nada as there is. I just don't leave the smoke on too long.
NADA is pretty much "odorless".
Liam,
Our NADA was created especially for those who have sensitivities or allergies or those who prefer a scentless smoke fluid. We created a "neutral" scent (NADA) that actually has special additives to eliminate the smell of smoke. Through our testing we found that it was 99% smoke-smell free. Our "beta tester" was a man who had 24 MTH steamers and had never turned the smoke units on due to his wife's sensitivity. After thorough testing, this gentleman bought some 8 oz bottles of NADA and now enjoys running his trains with the smoke on and his wife is not bothered by the smoke. Thanks for asking.

I didn't know about the NADA I'll have to look for it at York. I bought Apple Pie and Candy Cane but all I can smell is the smoke oil. I guess I've developed a sensitivity to the smoke after being around all the parked and running diesel power company trucks for the last 30 years . I turned the smoke off on my engines cause I couldn't stand the smell.

David,
In my own experience, sometimes the smoke unit wicks become old and charred and all that comes through is the oil smell. I have replaced several wicks when that has happened to me personally, and I immediately noticed that the particular scent was greatly enhanced and smelled like it does in the bottle. I use Apple Pie and Candy Cane and they are awesome scents! Just a suggestion.

Thanks Jeb,
All my stuff is pretty new but I was using the MTH oil till I got the Mega Steam I'd say that has a lot to do with it. I may have to replace the wicks and go with the NADA to get the old smell out.

Lionelzwl2012,
To answer your question...If you keep fluid on the wicking material and do not let it burn dry, your wick will last a long time. Unfortunately, some manufacturers set the smoke unit "ON" as the default setting and as soon as you start up the loco, the smoke unit comes on and the wicking gets fried. Many people don't even realize what happened and why the smoke units smells burned. We suggest to prime a smoke unit first with smoke fluid before using it and let it set overnight so that it is fully primed. That prevents the wick from burning and extends the life of the material.
You have looked down the stack and everything looks clean. That's good. You should have no problems for a long time. If your smoke smells ok, that is not a burned scorched smell, you are ok. You have nothing to worry about.
All wicking material does break down over a period of time due to normal use. When that happens it is time to replace the wick in your unit.
We specialize in smoke units and their behavior because we care about our customers. We hope this information was helpful.

We used the NADA product in steamers over our open weekend just passed, members and public commented on how it is not irritating. I don't know if it is my imagination, but I think it might produce even better quantities of smoke too.
JT's Mega steam: Thanks for the info, but I bet there are not to many members who open a brand new engine and load it with smoke fluid and let it set overnight . So maybe the best we could do would be to load it with fluid and shut off the smoke switch overnight. (I did say maybe). I would like to mention also that my new Hudson Vision Line had been giving me problems with very little or no smoke, after finaly about at least 100 drops (WOW) it has seemed to come around and starts smoking each time I start it up, I was wondering if this was do to a larger reservoir then normal? I would appreciate any other members who might of had this problem to weigh in. Thank's All, Casey ( I am using JT's Mega Steam).
