Thanks for the post Spence!
For those who want to take advantage of the 11% rebate sale, that's another $21 off! However, the rebate offer ends on Saturday (05/30/15).

Hmmm...I see some 24-car unit trains in your future!
Wow
Thats a whole bunch of flatcars. I have a few of those flats, bought them when they were offered in the store last Christmas. Put pipe loads on them, look pretty darn good.

Plus $1000 to enlarge your layout, add locos, etc.
They just arrived today! Will post picture once they're all unpacked.
Wow, that's alot of cars. I've found some single cars at a local Menards. Going to pick them up tomorrow.
Picked them up today.
Nice enough cars. No underside detail, but the trucks and are almost identical to RTR set Lionel cars with slightly rougher wheels. Definitely worth the $8 each. I'd love to see if they can do more types of cars like this. Sort of like the old cheap plastic cars but with the trucks and couplers like these have rather than the old ones that had immobile couplers and plastic wheels.
I'll have a full review with pics up in a couple days.
Unless you live near one of their stores the rebate is less than a fair deal as it can only be used in stores. Just another gimmic.

I have heard that they don't expire. If that is the case, I plan to save them up, make a trip back to Ohio, and go on a rebate spending spree!
Maybe a gimmick if you live further away, but you're still getting $8 flatcars!
Out of curiosity, are there other makers putting out rolling stock in the $10'ish price range?
It's refreshing to see someone trying to make the hobby affordable for the masses. I think about kids getting sets for Christmas and then the family being faced with expensive expansion packs that might contain 3 cars. Others factors aside, price alone (in the sense of perceived value received) is enough to force a lot of people out of the market. With this deal $200 buys a few cars for a birthday and several more for the next Christmas. Not a bad deal in my mind with or without the rebate.
None that I have seen. RMT's price for some individual cars is about $34. Most others run $40 plus for an individual very simple, basic car with no frills.
Menard's, thank you for giving us these great deals. They are appreciated. Please continue to do so. Can't get enough of your deals.

LOL, Where else can you buy $8.00 flatcars ?
I have a bunch of the Menards rebate certificates. Will be using them this holiday season when the store has their Christmas trains and buildings.
One other cool thing at Menards. Their weekly store ads usually have a few items items that have a 100% rebate plus other items with significant rebates. You can really build up a stockpile of those rebate certificates.

The price is very tempting as my tinplate items needing repair are becoming almost zero. My children made me promise not to buy anymore tinplate. Can you believe it?
It's about time I ventured into semi-scale. That would sure put their shorts in a bind .
