Are any of the menard's products "scale" sized?

The boxcars are reputed to match the size of a smallish PRR prototype (X-29?). That probably wasn't the intent of the entity that tooled the original cars these are clones of, though.

The 12" and 14" flatcars are scale-width (10'), but aren't known to be modeled after a specific prototype. Depending on your definition of "scale" that last bit may or may not disqualify them in your eyes. Everything else in the Menard's lineup is traditional (i.e. postwar equivalent) sized.

As to whether the Kadees will work depends more on the length of the car/s involved and the degree of curvature you're using them--or plan to use them, on. I see Scaletrax in the photo, but don't know offhand what curvatures are available in that line. The boxcar is basically a 40-footer, so you could say "What's the sharpest Scaletrax curve a 40' car equipped with Kadees will negotiate?"

Good point PRailride, what I do know is the curves for my future layout are 072 & 080. I think it should work as long as it will go threw the switches!

A very good choice. Everything I own has been up-graded to Kadee body mounted couplers (#805 and the newer #740), and no matter how long the cars are, including scale length Golden Gate Depot passenger cars , minimum curves of 072 will work pretty well. Curves of 080 and larger are, of course, best.

Waddy, Really? So if you had a collection that was 100% Kadee couplers, and you got some new cars you would leave the claw and not change them over!

I'm too cheap to ever have an entire collection all with Kadee couplers.   Any new cars I buy get old quickly.  But I think if I was willing to shell out for top notch couplers I would want them on top notch rolling stock.   Of course, I don't have any rolling stock worth a Kadee; it's all weathered and ragged.  It is what it is, and I've learned to love the claw.  If a Menard's coupler gives me grief it gets glued shut.  Problem solved.   Good thing about this hobby everybody does whatever they want.  Both of us.

Dave, to be honest with you I always thought TinPlate was the box that grandma kept cookies in, I didn't learn the difference till I joined this great forum! But I do have a contact local that deals in all trains, let me check with him. I don't know anything about tinplate stuff, so how much is it worth? I will let you know what I find out!
