Menards 20ft containers wider than 40ft containers

That's too bad. I've experienced the same issue with various runs of shipping containers from MTH also. It would be interesting to find out what causes the slight variances in manufacturing from I would assume to be the same set of molds. 

This little problem has been addressed.  You are correct that they don't match up. The best thing you can do is use 2 sided tape to hold the containers in place.

How was the problem addressed?

You get what you pay for.... often less.....

I just got the containers, and they look great. But I'd also like to know how Menard's fixed this discrepancy. 

I'm probably going to do the double faced tape or the sticky tac. I agree with them probably being from different manufacturers. As cabinet bob has mentioned "this situation has been addressed" so maybe any future containers will meet one of these standards.

Sometimes a person  needs to do  things to make things work.

 It's not a perfect world  out  there. My thoughts....

Can you place just two pins on one side or opposing corners for the time being? That way the width discrepancy is less of an obstacle while stacked on the car.

Yes, this does work..

Cabinet Bob, I'm a fan, but why no explanation as to the fix? Very unlike Menard's not to respond to this type of issue.

Read carefully - thats another person quoting a Menards post from a different thread...where Mark says the containers fit - (less the inner pins)

This is a new issue - perhaps not one seen with the stock Mark had on hand - no reply yet from Menards - but, lets give the guy a chance!

I have to admit that I got a lot confused, too, when I read the post from "Mark," which included the quoted text and picture from "Mark the Menard's guy."

Yes, this does work..

This is exactly what I do with my stack cars made by K-Line. Even though all containers are the same width, trying to use all the pins at once makes the connection very tight and it's difficult to get them on. Putting one pin on one side, then another pin on the opposite corner on the other side, still does the job and it's much easier. Now to fix those container doors that fly open for no reason at any speed...
